Zen Ensō
Ensō 円相 (Chinese: Yuanxiang 圓相) is a sacred symbol in Zen Buddhism and is one of the most common subjects of Japanese calligraphy, even though it is a symbol and not a character.
The ensō circle symbolizes the beginning and the end of all things, emptiness and fullness, and celebrates the acceptance of imperfection as perfect. Brushing an ensō in ink on paper symbolizes a moment in time when the mind is free to simply let the spirit create through the physical body.
One breath, one stroke, one moment.
